“at the beginning of the war, when someone was killed – no matter whether we knew him personally – we felt it deeply,we went to look. But when we became hardened,we didn’t even change direction when he was lying in front of us. We became hard”. (Jules Leroy)

Principals:  Colin Whitehead & Ged Ellis

Colin has had an interest in WW1 since he heard about his own Grand-father’s experiences with the Salford Pals on the Somme. He has been exploring the sites of the Western Front since the 1970s and has had exhibitions of his wartime memorabilia all over the North West of England.

Ged has 18 years experience of organising battlefield tours. Firstly for the History departments of schools in Manchester & Cheshire, and now for the past 12 years as partner in Entente Cordiale Battlefield Tours. He is in the process of writing his first book on the Myths and Legends of World War One! Ged’s Great-uncle was killed in Macedonia in April 1917.

Col & Ged have been friends and colleagues for over 30 years!

Together they bring a compelling blend of knowledge and experience that creates a totally unique battlefield experience for parties large and small.

Entente Cordial Battlefield Tours, now in our THIRTEENTH year, grew out our joint passion to preserve the memory of the WW1 battlefields and of those who fought.

We believe our escorted tours to be pretty unique. We come highly recommended and guests travel with us time and again.

We have welcomed guests from as far afield as Australia, New Zealand, Canada, South Africa, Hong Kong and the USA.

So if you are planning a WW1 battlefield tour of France, and/or Flanders, or a WW2 battlefield tour of Normandy, then contact us first. You won’t be disappointed as the testimonials of our guests confirm.
